Items, categories & colors

Build the item list for a project: units, categories (including your own), and label colors.

Create an item

  1. Open the project's Items tab and use the new-item row: name, category, unit, and (optionally) a unit price.
  2. Choose Create. The item appears in the panel, ready for measurements.

Units

Units spell out in full: Each, Linear Feet, Square Feet, Square Yards, Cubic Feet, Cubic Yards. Pick the unit that matches how the material is sold — totals never combine different units.

Categories

Built-in categories include Windows, Doors, Flooring, Tile, Cabinets, Vanities, Countertops, and General. To add your own, choose + Custom category… at the bottom of the category list and type a name — it is remembered for the project and offered on every item after that.

Colors

Each item gets a color used for its measurements and labels on the plan. Pick from the row of color circles; the last circle is a custom color picker — click it and choose any color. Distinct colors per item keep a busy sheet readable.

Prices

Unit prices live on items. Quantities come from the plan; the Summary multiplies them out (see Summary, markup & tax). Update a price any time — totals recalculate immediately.
